The first two seasons of Stargate SG-1 were really the pace-setters for the rest of the series. In the first season we were introduced to the main characters and several ongoing area threads. In season II we were given the Tok’ra, as well as the beginning of the raze for Apophis, plus got a smattering of very friendly episodes. Now, with season 3, everything in Stargate is in full-swing! With primitive enemies revisited, two necessary plots resolved, and a plethora of unusual ones introduced, Season 3 really has it all. The relationship between Jack and Thor starts to design, Daniel learns to go on with his life, Carter learns more about Jolinar and becomes closer with her father, and Teal’c, well, Teal’c ROCKS! I cannot say enough about episodes like “Forever In A Day,” “Legacy,” “Point of Notion,” “Jolinar’s Memories,” “The Devil You Know,” “Pretense,” “NEMESIS” and others! The writers became more seasoned with yarn plots and the actors dove into their roles head-first, not horrified to give us some of the best science fiction material I’ve ever seen! I 100% reccommend this DVD boxed state. It is worth every dollar!
I have already pre-ordered Stargate SG1-Season 3 Boxed Station because I bag this sci-fi adventure series to be the best sci-fi series since the unusual Star Whisk series of the 1960’s. Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not a Trekkie or one who attends conventions. However I do savor well written and well acted science-fiction and Stargate SG1 is such a series. I already possess the first 2 boxed season series collections and what makes this series so vast is the writing and the characters themselves. The stories are luminous and understanding provoking and are not overwhelmed with special effects but add only enough special effects to enhance the stories themselves. The characters, like in the current Star Poke series are written to be proper, likeable and qualified friends willing to lay down their lives for what is morally good and apt as well as for each other, values that have seemed to long depart in most television series today. Richard Dean Anderson,(formerly of Macyver), Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Believe and Don S.Davis have titanic chemistry as they work together to solve problems in a very precise and human map,with both a dramatic and comical sensibilty to whatever confronts them in each episode. Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright, who are the executive producers and the ones who developed Stargate for television have seemed to lift the “Gene Roddenberry” magic with stories that method the viewer in with characters that seem steady and impartial. If you luxuriate in well written sci-fi stories with characters that seem very dependable, very human and people you get to be extremely likeable, then Stargate SG1 is a series you will definitly devour.
